    • The minimum wage in Missouri is $12.30 an hour. Because this is higher than the federal minimum wage of $7.25, employees in Missouri must be paid at least $12.30 an hour.

      The minimum wage in Jackson County is $12.30, the state minimum wage. Missouri law prohibits city and county governments from adopting a local minimum wage that's higher than the state minimum wage. 

      Kansas City Minimum Wage

      The minimum wage in Kansas City is $12.30 an hour. Kansas City has twice passed its own minimum wage law, setting a higher hourly rate than state or federal law. However, the Missouri state legislature preempted these efforts by prohibiting any local governments within the state from setting their minimum wage at a different rate than the state hourly minimum. Therefore, if you work in Kansas City, you are entitled to the state minimum wage, currently $12.30 an hour.
