2023 U.S. Obamacare Rates

For 2023 health plans, State open enrollment begins on November 16, 2022 (that's later than every other state) and runs through January 31, 2023. If you enroll by December 15, your coverage will begin on January 1, 2023.

Open enrollment has ended for 2022 plans. However, you may still be able to purchase health insurance for this year if you qualify for a special enrollment period. For example, if you’ve recently lost your job or significant income, you might qualify for a 60-day special enrollment period that will allow you to sign up for a new health insurance plan. Medicaid Expansion in Your State: Can You Get Medicaid Now?

If you qualify for health care coverage under Medicaid, you don't need to buy any other health insurance.

Only low-income individuals and families are eligible for Medicaid benefits. Medicaid is a federal program, but it's run by each state, so eligibility and benefits vary depending on where you live. Medicaid is also known by different names in a few states -- for example, in California, it's called Medi-Cal, in Oklahoma it's SoonerCare, and in Vermont, Green Mountain Care.
