Only low-income individuals and families are eligible for Medicaid benefits. Medicaid is a federal program, but it's run by each state, so eligibility and benefits vary depending on where you live. Medicaid is also known by different names in a few states -- for example, in California, it's called Medi-Cal, in Oklahoma it's SoonerCare, and in Vermont, Green Mountain Care.
