Medicaid Expansion in Your State: Can You Get Medicaid Now?

Not all states have expanded Medicaid coverage under the Affordable Care Act. Learn where your state stands.

If you qualify for health care coverage under Medicaid, you don't need to buy any other health insurance.

Only low-income individuals and families are eligible for Medicaid benefits. Medicaid is a federal program, but it's run by each state, so eligibility and benefits vary depending on where you live. Medicaid is also known by different names in a few states -- for example, in California, it's called Medi-Cal, in Oklahoma it's SoonerCare, and in Vermont, Green Mountain Care.
