State law determines how long unemployment benefits last. In the past, virtually all states offered up to 26 weeks of unemployment benefits. In recent years, however, some states have shortened these entitlements.
In Idaho, the duration of benefits depends on the state's unemployment rate when you apply and on your earnings during the base period: the more of your wages you earned outside of the highest paid quarter of the base period, the longer you will receive benefits. (In other words, if you earned almost all of your wages in the highest paid quarter, your benefits will last for a shorter time than if your wages were more evenly spread out.) The maximum period for which you can receive benefits ranges from 10 to 26 weeks.
If you are still unemployed when your Idaho benefits run out, you may be eligible for extended benefits.
