The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act – the $2 trillion stimulus package Congress passed on March 27, 2020 – extends unemployment benefits to many workers who are not eligible for traditional unemployment. Select your state from the list below to learn more about the Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) program, which provides up to 79 weeks of benefits to gig workers, contractors, self-employed people, and others in who have lost income as a result of COVID-19 and don’t otherwise qualify for unemployment.
