This website was started in 2005 by Albin Renauer (co-author
to File For Chapter 7 Bankruptcy (Nolo)) after Congress
changed the bankruptcy laws to make it harder for people to file. This website makes it easier. LegalConsumer.com has helped more than a million consumers navigate the bankruptcy process by providing a free online “means test calculator,” which helps people figure whether or not they’re eligible to file for Chapter 7 bankruptcy.
The site was a one-man-show for many years. Then, in 2013, the website expanded to cover another topic critical to consumers: Obamacare. Nolo author and legal editor, Shae Irving, edited the Obamacare website has provided clear guidance to hundreds of thousands of people navigating the ins and outs of the Affordable Care Act in their state.
Early in 2014, we added another topic, also authored and edited by Shae Irving: Healthcare Law, focusing on state-specific forms and rules about Living Wills, Advance Directives and Durable Powers of Attorney for Healthcare.
We plan to add more topics later this year. Come back often and visit to see what we're up to. If you find this site useful, tell your friends.
Remember to bookmark this website if you have found it helpful so far. You
won't find a more comprehensive collection of bankruptcy resources and information
anywhere on the Web. Make it your starting point for your bankruptcy research.
And tell your friends.
Best of luck to you as you traverse your financial troubles.
