About Inheritance Law by Zip Code

This site is designed to give you local information about how to inherit property in your state and county.

The site offers information about relevant laws in your state and helps you find the resources to handle probate in your county.

It was originally written by Estate Planning Attorney Liza Hanks, who is the author of several books by Nolo Press in Berkeley, the author of a popular blog "Ask Liza," and the host of Women and Wills, a website, podcast, and series of courses designed to make the ins and outs of estate planning less intimidating.

Liza specializes in estate planning for families of all ages. She is a Certified Specialist in Estate Planning, Trust, and Probate Law by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization.

A graduate of Stanford Law School, she has also served as an instructor at the Santa Clara University Law School and practiced with the state of California and a prestigious Silicon Valley firm.

Liza is also the author of the Busy Family's Guide to Estate Planning: 10 Steps to Peace of Mind.

Liza has moved on to other pursuits, and her content is now maintained and updated by LegalConsumer editors beginning in 2023.
