Coverage under the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare). If you receive unemployment benefits for at least one week in 2021, you may be able to get a mid-level Obamacare plan for 2021 at no cost to you. These benefits result from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) signed by President Biden on March 11, 2021.
As an alternative, you may be able to keep your employer-provided health care coverage under COBRA, a federal law that lets many ex-employees continue their existing coverage for 18 months. ARPA provides free coverage under COBRA from April through September of 2021.
